Can I connect my new 8020B with gen. stereo sources?

Hi..!

I've recently bought a new pair of 8020B monitor system, I am just qurious to know that if its good to connect them with a normal stereo source like: Laptop or iPod?
{by making a cable with 3.5mm TRS jack one side and two XLR connectors other side for monitors, by joining XLR's 1 and 3 no. point to shield.... (or if you please tell me the right way doing it.. :!: )}

Thanks for your post. You can indeed connect your 8020B to all sorts of stereo sources, IPod, Laptop, etc...
