I'm very interested in the new 8260A and I've read the information on your site. I was hoping you could tell us more about a) the amplifiers in the monitor and b) the D/A converter part of the system. Can the D/A handle 192 khz digital input well? Also, I was wondering if you can provide the cumulative spectral decay plots for the 8260A. It looks like a great product!

Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for your post. Some comments here on your technical questions about our new 8260A.

The ADC works at 96 kHz sampling frequency. The AES/EBU digital audio input works at any sampling frequency between 32 kHz and 192 kHz. The 8260A can handle 192 kHz digital input.

The audio bandwidth input-to-output of the 8260A is from 26 Hz (-3 dB point) to about 40 kHz (-3 dB point). The power amplifiers are AB class power amplifiers.

As of today, we do not generally publish cumulative spectral decay plots (CSD) for our products. However, if we decide to do so, such plots will be featured in our technical product documentations.

Hope this is helpful.
Best regards,

Thank you for the answers. To follow up, I am interested in the impulse response of the new 8260A's, which is why I was asking about the cumulative spectral decay plots. To me, these seem important in evaluating top of the line speakers. Can you comment?

Thanks!

Hi!
Can the 8260A work with analog signal without A-D-A conversion and DSP processing function?
Thanks!

Hi!

Short answer is no. DSP processing inherently requires a digital signal, as similarly amplifiers require an analog signal.

I mean "work without DSP and ADA conversion" - like analog 80xx series monitors :?:

Hi Underwheels,

Illka has already told you no.

The analog input is converted to digital, there is no way around this.

I would suggest that you audition the 8260A, the benefits that in-room eq provides far outweighs the "extra AD conversion"

If you can find a dealer with both 8050/8040 and 8250/8040 have a listen, i'm sure you will see the benefits of the DSP immediately.
