8250 Power On buzzing

Hello

I have a pair of 8250's that I've been using in the studio for about a year. Generally speaking I've been leaving them switched on 24/7. In an effort to reduce our colossal electricity bills, I'm now trying to get in the habit of turning things off over night.

Now that the Genelecs are going off, when I go to switch them on the morning, they both exhibit worrying behaviour. They both give a low level pop when powered on and the light goes orange to green. This might be normal but I don't like the pop sound. They both then generate a 'buzzing' or 'zipper' type sound that gradually fades over 10 seconds or so on the left speaker. The right hand speaker is worse, as the buzz stays until I've powered the speaker on several times, eventually it fades too. Both speakers then work as expected and sound fine.

I'm going AES into the speakers, but I tried this going analog as well and it was the same.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is happening here? Appreciate any help!

Thanks.

Hello,

It is normal behavior, that the LED goes from orange to green when starting. It is also normal, that small "pop" sound comes from the monitor when turning on. However, this buzzing sound that fades away doesn't sound normal. Could you make a video clip showing this problem, and send it to our service e-mail? Also could you test to start the monitor without any signal cables attached, to see if there is any difference.

Hi,

I am experiencing, the same "buzzing" problem with one of my 8250. Buzzing is audible from all laoudspeakers (high & low). Tested all possible cables disconected, except

power suply   :-). No difference. During "buzzing", sound if played, is distorted. After 30-60 seconds buzzing desapears and all is working OK.

Hello

I have been having the same problem with my 8250As as the others here. The buzzing started about 18 months ago and now lasts 1:20 on my right channel and 14:20 on my left channel. After that, both speakers appear to behave normally. I've submitted a support request through the Genelec website, but any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
