8351 optional gain not stored in standalone mode?

Hi,

I recently acquired a pair of 8351's to replace my mint S30D's (which will appear in the classified section soon). I use them primarily as living room listening speakers and sometimes for mastering.

For stereo use I drive them with a fancy thorens preamp. To match the input volumes I used to use an active DI, but in order to make the signal chain cleaner I replaced this one with a radial ProD2 passive DI and I can match the volume drop nicely with the new optional gain feature from the GLM. The GLM is not connected permanently,  it's home is hooked to my 8330's in my computer / tracking room. Also I would like to avoid computers and patch cables in my living room.

Now my issue is that the optional gain (+18DB works great), disappears when the 8351's are power cycled (I do not leave them on, but they're switched together with my amp). Is this normal or a bug? is it a setting I am missing? Is there away to avoid this?

Using GLM 2.2.0, firmware was updated yesterday 15/11/2017

Thanks in advance!

found a workaround, leaving the 8351's under tension and letting them put themselves to sleep (S30d's dont sleep on their own)

no luck, ... 8351's slept through the night (when I am awake i AM listining to them...) and stayed hooked to mains power.

Optional gain is again gone... move GLM from my tracking room, attached laptop and at the moment I open the GLM SW the optional gain is back.

plz help

TIA,

Hi Bald,

Have you stored your settings and calibrations to monitors? First I recommend you to download our latest GLM 3 version from link below:
https://www.genelec.com/glm-3

After that select wanted volume when monitors are used without GLM by going to Setup|Store Startup Level|Current

After that go to Group|Store Current Group Settingst at Current Level to SAM Monitors.

If the problem still occurs, please let us know!
