Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

8351 and Naim Dac

Hey guys!   I don't own any Genelecs yet - but i'm hoping to be the proud owner of a pair of 8351's very very soon!    I just need to ask a few questions before i get out my wallet. Hoping someone here can help...

1)  I have a Naim DAC-V1. (    How would i best connect this to the 8351s for optimal sound quality?  The outputs on the DAC are:

- 6.3mm headphone jack
- four-pin DIN jack
- a pair of RCA phono outs.

2) Would it make the most sense to control the volume from the DAC and leave the speakers high volume?    Or put the DAC at high volume and control the volume of the speakers?     If the latter - what's the best way to control the volume? i much rather have a big physical knob in front of me to dial...

3)  Does GLM & measuring Mic come with these speakers?  or do i need to buy that separately?

4)  Do i need GLM 3  or 2  for these speakers?   I can't seem to find any UK shops supplying GLM3 ,  any idea where i would buy from?

5) I read in this forum that GLM2 doesn't work with latest Mac operating system.  I use latest 10.13.2  -  is the bug fixed?  will it work???

6) I read that the 8341s have more EQ points on the calibration profile than the 8351s. is that correct?  does GLM 3 improve this at all?

Sorry for all the questions, obviously these are not cheap monitors so i just want to do my homework before buying.   If there is anything else you feel i need to know i would be grateful for your wisdoms.

Thank you and happy new year!!
