Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Speakers Problems (AGAIN)

I am at the end of my tether with Genelec.

I bought high end speakers, not only for a great sound, but so they would last me many years. (Genelec 8040)

First, both speakers totally stopped working, and after contacting Genelec, I get told to send them to a company in London (HBB) (163 miles away) to get them fixed (which cost me over £50 to send). The engineer tells me that it was an electrical fault which my warranty did not cover so I had to pay for them to be fixed, plus it took weeks to get them back from which I lost money through work ( I work in the music industry full time as a freelance mastering, mixing engineer as well as music production and composition).

A few months later the high end totally disappeared on one of the speakers. So I get told to send them to HBB again. Luckily the speaker started working over Christmas so I was able to finish music projects and keep my clients happy. The high end kept going, but if I turned it off and back on it would sometimes come back.

Later, the problem gets worse and the high end wouldn’t come back at all, so I decide to contact HBB again and get the speaker fixed once a for all. So I spend another £50 to send them to London.

3 WEEKS LATER and the engineer hasn't even looked at it yet. I’m losing money through work plus I am potentially losing clients. As many know the music business hard and if I keep putting off clients because of my speaker I could potentially lose their business.

I pay over £1400 for high end speakers and I feel like i’ve been mugged off. But what can I do? I’ve asked for replacement speakers but keep getting ignored.

Genelec are great speakers when they work but the customer service is absolutely disgusting. I've never been so disappointed with a product in my life. This is potentially ruining my career I have worked so hard for.

Please sort this out Genelec ASAP

Hi Renzz,

I'm very sorry to hear about the troubles you have encountered. Even Genelec products are always very high quality sometimes individual faults can unfortunately appear. Solving these possible issues on Genelec products should be handled by the distributor authorized service, and if there is any problems we are glad to help.

Please contact us at service@genelec.com, if you have any open questions! We are currently not actively responding to the message on our community website.

Best Regards,
Jani Oksanen
